Information for Researchers

We encourage you to contact us to meet with a member of the Library's Skills Development Team to get the most out of our services and resources.

Skills Plus is the Library's online collection of interactive training materials on a wide range of topics, and is an excellent place to start with developing your research skills.

The University Library's Research Compass shows how we can support you at every stage of your research. Contact us for further information, guidance and advice.

Researcher Development Programme

Join us for the Researcher Development Programme which equips PhD students and staff with key skills required to develop into a successful researcher. The programme is delivered in November and March each year. You can book places on these sessions via our online calendar once sessions are scheduled. All of the materials can be found on the Research Skills section of Skills Plus at any time.

EndNote Introductory and Advanced training sessions are available for PhD students and staff. Details are available in the EndNote training section of this guide and via the People Development department.

Research Zones

Our Research Zones at City Campus Library and Coach Lane Library are dedicated areas for postgraduate researchers and academic staff. They have workstations for individual use and space for you to meet up with colleagues and share ideas.

There is a new meeting room in the City Campus zone to help facilitate group collaboration and discussion between researchers. This is to complement the individual study space in the rest of the zone. Postgraduate researchers and academic staff can make bookings for this Research Zone meeting room through ask4help.
